World class Coctel de Camaron

I am so lucky to find more and more friends that share my passion for good eats and little secrets that touch your senses. My new discovery, which I owe to a new foodie connection is the shrimp cocktail stand, which is modestly located on a corner of the street close to my office. It is absolutely mind blowing. I would have never thought that one of the best seafood dishes in town would be served off of a van on the corner of the street. Tacos, yes, but seafood?

The owner of this stand wakes up every day at 4am to go to the market and pick the fresh produce for his business. He opens the shop from Monday to Saturday from 11am until around 4pm when everything is gone into the happy bellies of the local crowd. And I really mean it when I say “crowd” because this cocktail is so yummy that he sells on average 300 portions per afternoon lunch. That’s better than a restaurant!!! You can choose between the shrimp cocktail, fish cocktail, soft-shell crab and whatever he has on hand that day. The best part…..only 40 pesitos for the small portion and 60 pesitos for the large doze of goodness. In Europe you would pay at least 20 Euros for such a luxury.

The truck is located daily on the corner of Prado Sur and Reforma right next to the Pemex gas station. Check it out. I promise that its fresher and better than in many restaurants I know.
