Broka Bistrot

Yes, I know I know. I have disappeared but that's only because I was on very well deserved vacations and since my travels involved mostly European countries, I had little to say about the new Mexican discoveries. But now I'm back and very excited to tell you about a little treasure called Broka.

Broka is a tiny restaurant located in Roma Norte and it is one of these places that I wish not many people would know about as it resembles a little treasure I want to keep for myself. I am a blogger however and cannot stop myself from spreading the word.

Broka fits perfectly with the bohemian and artsy style of La Roma with modest design and strikingly genius simplicity in its modus operandi. The uniqueness of Broka lays in the simple fact that there is no menu. Yes ladies and gentlemen, you are served by the Chef and his army of skilled assistants. Whatever is fresh today, it shall be your dinner. Just say if you are allergic to any living or dead aliments or otherwise cannot stomach certain ingredients and the menu will be adjusted to your likes. You come in, sit or stand as it tends to get very crowded, and order your drink. After 8:30pm the small dishes ("tapas") come flying your way and they are delicious. Only a skilled chef could open such a restaurant because imagine the challenge to make everyone happy without letting them choose their food. I tried excellent stuffed mushrooms, mini sandwiches, and oysters among others. They keep coming your way until you literally need to say when you have had enough.

The Chef is running around the restaurants, talking to the customers and solving any of your heart's desires. Well....ok this may be an exaggeration but it feels like he could anyway. With experience from Contramar and Cibeles, he certainly learned a lot of useful skills and what I really appreciate is that he has his own style and did not fall into the trap of becoming a copy-cat of the hot spots, thus loosing originality. Good Job!!!!

And of course here comes the best part.....guys we had 5 glasses of wine and 6 tapas per person (2 people) and the bill was an amazing 300 pesitos. Did I miss something here or do I love Broka?
